Traditional “trdelnik”
Ingredients
500 g | semi-coarse flour |
250 ml | milk |
80 g | butter |
2 | eggs (whites and yolks separately) |
1 cube | yeast |
3 spoons | sugar |
2 pinches | salt |

1 cup | crushed nuts (depends on your own taste) |

Procedure
First prepare the yeast. Mix the yeast with a spoonful of lukewarm milk, a little flour and a pinch of sugar and let it rise. Next, put flour, melted butter, milk, sugar, egg yolks and salt in a bowl. Add yeast to the resulting mixture and mix it into a semi-solid dough (better to use with the help of a kitchen robot). And let it rise for at least 30-45 minutes.
Then process the dough and roll out a plate about half a centimeter thick and cut strips about 2 cm wide. If we do not have large tubes, a rich jar or a roller wrapped in foil will suffice. Wrap the individual strips on a roller so that they overlap and rub the whipped whites. Put the rolling pin in a baking dish or baking tin so that the dough does not rest on the bottom or sides of the baking tray and let it rise for about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, heat the oven to 180-200 ° C with hot air and bake for 15-20 minutes and turn the trdelniks in the middle of baking.
After baking, lightly spread with butter and sprinkle with a mixture of nuts, sugar and cinnamon. After a slight cooling, wipe the entire inside of the trdelnik with Carla cream. And we can already enjoy this simple and good classic sweet.
